Hey, I just want to say thanks to all those that helped me through the last year of all of my mapping stresses.

I am happy to say your patients paid off and I finally released my map "House 2 House" (check it out in the download section).

Also, through the whole time I was learning and making (many) mistakes, Ive written a reference guide that I used all the time with lots of key info gathered from dozens of tutorials and advice. I am working on cleaning it up and will then post it soon for all to use as my contribution to new mappers (and old).

My advice to new mappers? well, keep at it, don't give up no matter how frustrated you get. there is always an answer and people here will always try to help. One thing Ive noticed though, try not to lose your cool when asking for help. The guys here don't have to help you and are doing so out of the goodness of their heart, so take it easy and don't be rude. It takes a long time to figure out some of this stuff, so don't expect to get it straight away. Hang in there and read as much of the tuts and forums as possible before asking the same questions that have already been answered 100 times before.

Thats it, happy mapping everyone!

Great advice for the newcomers. And it's good to see a released map.

Another advice: if anyone here helps you with a script, try to understand that script. I know scripting is pretty scary at first, but if you copy other people's scripts without knowing what they're about, it won't get you anywhere.
