I think Jynx needs to return his headset, voice was amplified and increased the swearing alot more. Must be broken! or maybe it was just the topic [lol]

Congrats to Tristan for winning the first segment of the L4D2 Modscon. I just thought I'd like to comment on your comments regarding this competition and what was discussed regarding entries (or lack of).

I can only speak for myself, but I did not have L4D2 when competition was announced and only made the decision to purchased the Valve pack from Steam about a month before the competition end date for segment 1.

Then as I had never used hammer before had to start using the editor and learning its restrictions! Now that I have that under control, I can actually make a map [thumbs_up]

Sounds like the other entrants had some great ideas and with what Tristan said regarding those two windows, I totally agree as I tried putting them in too. Hammer does really not like it. To map in hammer the environment appears it has to be very square! It doesn't like diagonals and curves.

Due to my freshness with hammer/L4D2, the idea I wanted to do was too big/complicated (I always do that with any map, think too big go to complicated) and found I could not do what I wanted.

After playing the normal L4D2 maps, Tristans map it has definatly help me move forward and I intend to enter 'something'!

I was not waiting for segment 2, I just did not have time! [ohwell] Cheesy excuse I know [lol]

Good Luck for everyone else [biggrin]

pretty sure that's mont saint michel (nothern france) ?

if it is , been there many time's and it's a really amazing place [thumbs_up] great medieval street's that run around the mount leading to the abby at the top , where i believe there are still practicing monk's , i can imagine that being a good enviroment for a map [thumbs_up]

some of the fastest tide's in the world run in that area , as fast as galloping horse if i remember correctly

just thought i'd share lol

[cool]

Hey Blackjack. Yes you are correct. That is indeed 'Mont Saint Michel'. All I can say is lucky bugger...I'd love to visit some of these places someday.

Was planning to do the town on the main land as the first segment, the road and causway (with all the carparks) heading up to island as second segment then then final segment ending up in the chapel on the top as the final safehouse!

It 'WOULD' have been epic...maybe another day [cool]

well , i am lucky in that i live on an island about 12 miles of the coast of northern france (Jersey) in fact on aclear day you can actually see france from the east coast of the island , so way back when i was in school we had many many trips to france to see the Bayouex tapestry and the trip was always the same , 2 day's in Bayouex and then up to noramndy to vist WW2 sight's etc. then visit mont saint michel on the way back [cool]

i think it would make a great map ! like you say , starting on the causeway and then moving up through the street's , hell of alot of work but dam man , great place to draw inspiration [thumbs_up]

Another comment but in regards to PC vs Console.

As the Xbox360 controller can be purchased for PC. I wonder why no-one has thought to have a network lan match of PC vs Xbox with the xbox players using the Xbox360 controllers, PC using normal mouse/keyboard but playing on PC's!!?

To give xbox players a fair advantage, ensure their PC's are equal to the power of an Xbox360 [wink] and the PC players use a cruddy highend gaming machine [wink].

That would make for an interesting match [lol] Settle the argument once and for all.

We know who would win [machine_gun] [2guns] No Autoaim on a PC...

hmmm.. that is a good idea. I'll tell you the reason I haven't done it is because I don't have any console friends that would be willing to try that. [wink]
The only thing that wouldn't be accurate is the menu system I guess.
