hey guys and gals i need help making a light that spins like a police siren or lighthouse but cannot figure how to do it!! any ideas from the lovely community?

you could make a light with a rotating brush around it. so it casts out beams like a lighthouse or police siren

yeh thats at iv got already i have no problem making the prop_dynamic spin but im having trouble making the the light spot etc spin with it because i want the light to shine out in the direction the prop is facing only

Depends what effect you want to create?

Are you trying to create a police siren light? or the light on top of a lighthouse. The reason I ask is that the entities needed to create each of those lighting effects are different.

Hehe ok. Create a small brush at the base of your prop_dynamic and texture it toolsinvisiable.

Next Tie it to an entity. Make it a func_rotating and check the "start on" box in the flags. Then give it a name e.g. spinning_light_1.

Next use a beam_spotlight and set it's parent name to whatever you called your func_rotating brush, Also make sure the "start on" flag is ticked.

Finally set the parent name of your prop_dynamic also to whatever you called your func_rotating brush.
