I was wondering if there is a way to save all the files for one of my custom maps and copy them over to a different computer with a fresh install of cod4 and modtools. Is there any easy solution to do this?

Find your map source file.

XP: C:\Program_Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4\map source
Vista/7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of Duty - World at War\map_source

Note for Vista/7 it might just be Program Files without the (x86) extention. This only is the case if you have a 32Bit OS.

Now, when you find the folder simply copy+paste it to your desktop and save it to a flash drive, CD, DVD, internet host site, etc. When you receive the new PC just simply upload it too its appropriate location.

try getting a flash drive, plug it in, and copy the files you want into the USB Flash Drive. Then go to your other cumputer and plug the Flash Drive in and take the files off of the flash drive.

You'll need the .map file and the .map files for any prefabs you made that are in the map. If you have custom textures, it get trickier.

If you made the map you should know what files belong with it. [cool]

You would have had to become familiar with the files as you create the map, including .gsc, csv or the .map and where they are located.

I created a tool for backing up map files. You can use it if you want, but if you are just making copies of them just once, then you wouldn't really need the tool. Maybe it will be of some use to you in the future.

Anyways, the tool shows all the differnt types of files a custom map can have, or at least 90% of them.

You can download it Here

The 1.0 version should be available soon.
