Okay, we all know what the problem is.
I've looked around the internet and this site and nobody seems to have a working solution that I've tried. The one's I havn't tried are those I don't understand like this:

"Select and delete the bad brushes" how do I know what those are? My map has a billion brushes, I'm not gunna go through them all, deleting at random hoping I'd get the bad ones.

"Simplifing brushes." Uhh... I'll assume that's terrain brushes. How do I simplify them? I've got a million of them, with the riverbank and rubble and all, I've deleted some which I didn't fiddle with the vertices and replaced with regular brushes.

I've portal'd up some bits of the map. Buildings with xmodels in especially. I don't know how to portal outside yet.
So, anyone offer any way of fixing this? And what causes this?

I've looked at those "portal ignored" things. I can't see anything wrong with them.

Yeah, I know I should clean my directory before compiling. I was playing cod online earlier and from what I've gathered this windings rubbish is not caused by additional .pk3 files.

Open .map file and search for:

Open your map file
Click on Misc
Select Find Brush
When the dialogue box opens enter the brush number (starting with the highest)
Leave the entity option blank and click the OK button
If you have a degenerate brush it will be hi-lighted, hit the backspace key to delete. NB If the degenerate brush is not hi-lighted hit the backspace key anyway as the brush may be a duplicate or on a duplicate plane.
Save your map.
Recompile your map and look for the next error in the list.
Repeat the process again and again until all the errors are gone.

As a recommendation and as advised in the tutorials I would move all none standard maps to a temp folder outside of your main COD directory until your map is finished.

That error means you have just TOO many vertices in your map. You say your map has millions of meshes. The game only supports so many(not sure of the number) but this error means you have too much. Most of your map can be made with terrain meshes that are say 512X512 with 3X3 vertices. Use higher density where you need more detail. The only way to fix this is to get rid of meshes you don't need and start replacing the higher density meshes with lower ones until you can compile the map.

[idea] It worked! But before you say "good for you" and start doing whatever it is you guys do, could you tell me what exacly causes MAX_WINDINGS_PER_CELL? Judging by what you've told me, I assume it's these
WARNING: entity 0 brush 5064: tris with 2+ major axes; bad lighting likely (what does this even mean?)
and these
Entity 491, Brush 10: duplicate plane.

But is there anything else? Because the error message is max windings per cell, I assume it's when you have too many 'things' per cell.
But besides what I've mentioned above, what are these 'things'?

Okay, uhh...
Just going to compile it again with some new stuff I added (No terrain brushes, just regular brushes and models)
Yet it says

And I REALLY don't want to down the detail of the river banks, I hate making such large things have slops and stuff, especially now that I've put all the things on them like trenches and barricades. Is there any other way?

Duplicate plane isn't that much of a big deal and won't stop a map from being compiled.
First, entity x and brush x are the name of the brush that's causing the error. What's wrong is you have two faces on a brush that are in the same plane, meaning one brush has a single face composed of 2 faces. Simply search for the brush and fix the problem, deleting and rebuilding it is the best method of fixing it.

Max windings per cell means - roughly - that you have too much going on in your map. Use the misc --> find brush tool to select and delete the bad brushes. Start with the highest numbered one and work your way down. Then start simplifying meshes and making things detail, that can be, to bring the number of windings down. Usually over-complicated meshes will produce this type of error.

You typically get warnings in your compile log but these are just that, warnings. Most can be ignored.

There is also a tool called clean brushes in your brush pull down menu. Be very careful using this! When you click it numerous brushes that the editor has problems with will be highlighted. You can use this to help identify problem areas. Or you could simply hit the backspace key and get rid of all of them. You may want to save your map file somewhere else before doing this just in case you delete half your map. Kidding, but only a little.

Really? Hmmm... Well, it max_winding'd me at the same time, anyway. Do regular brushes and xmodels also cause this? Because that's all I added since the previous one, which did work.
Though I think some of those brushes exceed the limit for size of brush. Though that's never bothered me before.

Do you need to see the compile log?

Everything you add to your map counts. Sadly that was the downside of COD UO. It was the best of the series, along with COD, for mapping and modding IMO. But there were limits which you've found. Somewhere around here there are specific numbers as to how much you can do but I can't find them. Maybe someone else can. I have no idea what density you used in your terrain but that's the place to start.
