Could someone please help me with changing player models... I havent seen any tutes on it...for example, in single player, changing the model of the combine soldiers to a civilian model, allowing the "civilian" to take the AI of an offensive combine soldier...

Edit:

P.S. Any way around the model swithing would be fine... I'm not sure on how the AI etc. is used yet, and perhaps you can achieve the same result using another method...!

Is it possible to have enemy's from sp in a hl2 death match level?

i can only help you with your last question as i have done little myself with modifying any of the stock models, whoever i have added sp enimies to mp maps and while they show up jus fine some wont act as they will in sp... your combine soldier for example... he will just stand there with his arms out... [2guns]

i know what you mean, that he is standing there with his arms out, had this ones in a sp-map i made. very silly look. his weapon was held also very strange in his hands.
further more i have so say sorry, i'm realy not all that familiar whit changing models.

oh well... thanks anyway for your responses... I have some good mod ideas that I'm getting down atm... most will probably never get finished, so I'm currently making levels that suit a range of game styles that with just a few closed/opened doors or un-broken/broken walls etc make the diff... am very keen on coop, as these levels will be much less linear than those in HL2, with and multiple paths to the same goal...

I've got lots of work on atm, but hopefully I'll get CS:s and HL2 sp going for each map too, and then.... dod... sweet baby of the source engine...

(All this rambling loses the point --> still keen to get single player AI fully into mp, so any other advice would be great, else I'll get back to you if I figure it out...)

Not sure if this will work so make a system restore point first and use at your own risk.

You could try to open the game cache files with GCFscape http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26 then find the models and copy them to your desktop swap the names around and put them back in your C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2\hl2 folder.

I did this with the korinbikini model and it replaces alyx in the sp game most people use it for garrys mod and I called my old models/ShaderTest files ShaderTest_old so it is easy to get them back it is best not to overwrite them and materials\models\ ShaderTest_old.

You can get that model from http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Korin_Bikini_Model;41007 and a skin pack from http://www.kristianp.de.vu/


not sure if all the models have the same animations so don’t know if it will work

for using enemy's I think the only way at the moment is with a co-op mod there are 2 I know of this 1 is out http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Tim_Coop_Mod;40706

and this great looking 1 is not yet http://www.svencoop.com/ sorry to say as it looks like it will be a great mod when it is done.
