Looks to me like you have your "Z" window dragged open to far; grab the right edge of the larger window displayed and drag it left. Additionally, go to preferences and make sure in your views/rendering area the left-most selection is clicked.

no its still not working i did all that, but i just want it to look like squares plus i cant do anything on the 2d map as is...

Your 2d grid isn't displayed; what you're seeing is the "Z" grid (the "height" grid). Did you check your preferences? Try sizing the 3d/texture view windows to the right. Left click, hold, and drag the border of the window to enlarge/decrease its size. I think the 2d window is there, you've just dragged your other windows on top of it (shrunk the 2d view).

The Z window is pulled over the 2d window. That is the definate problem. Look at the middle and you see 2 borders vertically in the middle. Grab the left one and move it left.
