How about posting recommendations for builds here. For instance, a motherboard/cpu combination. I've heard different stories about gigabyte mobo having problems. Is Biostar worth looking at? Should we be looking into quad core i7 cpu's? Metro 2033 is calling for it with that new game. How about a build Tutorial, PC Gamer magazine did one in their summer 2008 edition. And since we're dealing with windows 7 now should we be going to 64 bit? [confused]

I noted this for discussion for the MODSonair show later today (12pm EST).

I dd briefly discuss how to pick the parts in a previous post, but I didn't discuss which brands and why. I usually leave that up to you to research. Perhaps I should start explicitly recommending.

As far as Win 7 64 bit I would say this is the time for everyone to start jumping on the 64 bit band wagon. Win 7 64 bit is as stable as it gets, and the availability of 64 bit drivers isnt an issue anymore.

The advantage of 64 bit isnt just about being able to have more than 4 gig or RAM - its about how the OS itself multi-tasks with multi-core CPUs. Far better managment than on a 32 bit OS.

I wonder if a how-to-install components physically section would be also something to look into?

You asked about memory compatibility in a PM to me and that you couldn't download the PDF for the Asus pT6.

It's attached to this post for you.

Thanks Foyleman, every time I dl'd it the files were just symbols and gibberish.

Since the mb in this file is the P6T Deluxe version does anyone know if it's the same for the other P6T boards?

Figures, numbers don't match manufactures or newegg numbers. [crazy] Nothing's easy. lol

I believe the LG ones are good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136181&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Blu-Ray+Burners-_-LG+ELECTRONICS-_-27136181

And for the motherboards and OS, I would prefer ASUS motherboards, most of those are very nice. OS, I'd go for a 64-bit computer, because older games can have trouble with the 32-bit version.
