Ive just read this thread and I can say Ive got a legit version of maya 6. I didnt buy it though I was given it. The person who had it has the latest versions and he doesnt use 6 any longer. Its 7 years old. He has the 2012 version now and works with that.

What you have to remember is that cod2 is 7yrs old now and cod4 is 6 years old. When the program was new then fine you can quibble about the legit copies and unlegit copies but on a program that is 7yrs old now its pretty pointless. There have been 6 other versions of Maya since then It wasnt even Autodesk who made Maya 6 it was Alias and there is no support for the program any longer with exception to little bits and bobs on Autodesks website.

All I want to do is take a couple of the models from cod4 and import them into cod2 yet cant find any tutorials on it whatsoever but there are loads for cod4 to BO (doesnt work for cod2 btw) and those games are much newer. I cant even get the models to export to cod2 because the tools just give me errors. Because of its age finding help on this impossible. :(

So I dont see the point in quibbling about legitimacy now for programs that have long since been superseded.

Yeah, there's literally no way to get a legal copy of such old and rare programs and I doubt that Autodesk is even interested in any way if anyone pirates Maya 6 or not. They aren't likely to make any more profit from it and it's old, unavailable in any shops and noone needs them besides some CoD 2 modders.

That's why I think that asking if someone has a legitimate copy of Maya 6 is pointless, as it's like quarelling over legitimacy of sb's copies of some games for Atari or Commodore for me.

By the way: there are some tutorials related to CoD 2, models and Maya6:

Viewsleeves file:

Some tutorials on skinning, modelling and making custom character on this site (you must download them):

Some useful tools here:

And that's all from me. There are also some sites with Maya 6 tutorials:
