Quite possibly a release date?
Yup CoD7 is slated for release in November 2010 (although that is a Saturday). That pretty much seals it for me, well that and the whole domain name registration I found above, this is defiantly from Treyarch. Hard to believe it's almost been two years already.

Yeah but Raven, if a game like UO came out now, even with better graphics, the gameplay would be so stale and old, no one would enjoy it, thats why developers these days have to come up with brand new ideas to make the gameplay more immersive and exciting. You say "and that was in 2004", but in 2004 the FPS zone was still brewing and developers could get away with just a simple 5 gun menu on a multiplayer based game bacj then. I personally think MW2 is a very good game, obviously the whole dedi issue puts it down, but the game play I belive is actually fun, I much prefer arcade style shooters over try-hard realism ones that just dont work online due to the fact 50% of the players are idiots. |

Despite hardly ever changing from year to year, the game play of baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer and hockey doesn't seem to get this "stale and old" image and millions of people young and old still enjoy playing them.
CS & CSS are as close as you get to "sports" where 140,000 people still enjoy playing daily despite it not being all dressed up with the latest designer graphics and those "new and exciting" old board game and movie ideas.
The game industry acts just like the fashion industry:
Newly Old = Bad
Newly New = Good.
30 year old design + New Designer = Good
"Introducing the 2010 Brand New Old Looking Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, Dodge Penis Compensator, ect...."
( I don't know fashion)
I want a taco. |

Ok, so you believe if a new developer was given COD, dumped all killstreaks / perks / weapon attachments etc and just went back to the basic 5 weps for both teams, you join and play thats it, you think the millions of cod fans would go, WOW THIS IS AMAZING.
and btw, football games change big time every new FIFA that comes out over here in the UK, alot of new stuff gets added to each release. |

Ummm... yeah actually.
1) Bring back the real vehicles. Treyarch get's at least one thumbs up from me for bringing back the tanks in W@W, but they fell flat on the jeeps and 88's. I have to agree with you Matty, 50% of the online players are idiots, and at least 25% more are wankers and noobs lol. What draws them all though are the "toys", and with UO that was the tanks, jeeps and 88's. UO still has the best "toy's" of any of the COD line by far.
I still enjoy roaring into a base, grabbing a flag, jumping back in my jeep and roaring out of there in a hail of gunfire. It's exciting.
Look at BFBC2, what does everyone do when they spawn? Run to the chopper-pad, or grab a quad-runner, tank or APC. Whether your a noob or a veteran, the toys make the game fun. The weapons suck but the vehicles are awesome and even with the crappy weapons the game has still outstripped all of EA's wildest fantasies. So much so that DICE had to play a bit of emergency "catch up" with the databases to accommodate the overflow.
Now if EA would make the weapons a bit more effective (and not have to empty 3 magazines into someone to kill them), they would have another UO style hit on their hands, not that they aren't darn close already.
2) The unlocks do nothing but promote "power leveling" servers. In a week everyone is going to be prestige 10 level 65 anyway, so why even bother with the lame unlocks? I grant you, I was a bit disappointed when I had nothing left to unlock in BC2, but I found the unlocks simply annoying in W@W.
While I am certainly not advocating an updated clone of UO, you have to admit that the gameplay was superior to the "run and gun" garbage they're cranking out now. UO takes teamwork to play effectively. Probably why it's still going pretty good 6 years after it was released. What other COD title can say that?
