For some reason, I can't take my minimap image. I'll set the height to 10000 and execute the minimap function, but I won't be moved to an overhead view of my map with a white box. I'll just stay on the ground. The only thing that happens is that my HUD, FX, etc. will be gone.
My northyaw is set to 90, the minimap_corners are inside the skybox, and one's in the northwest corner of my map and one's in the southeast.
This is odd, as I've never run into this error before.

Can someone help me get around this error?

In my opinion it is easier for me to just make a separate shortcut for my minimap.

I put the following in my TARGET line:

...Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +set thereisacow 1337 +set developer 1 +set developer_script 1 + set sv_punkbuster 0 +devmap mp_mapname +set r_fullscreen 0



Then I just plug in my mapname for the map I'm making the image for into my target line.



Execute the same commands ingame.

/exec minimap.cfg (Optional)
/set scr_minimap_height 10000


That is just how I do it and it works great everytime. The reason I have fullscreen set to "0" is because I don't want to hit an error and have to manually shut down the game. You can remove that Dvar if you want or just set it to "1", your call.

But the ingame screenshots don't work unless the game is in fullscreen, since I use a Fraps to capture my image, it doesn't matter if mine is fullscreen or not. If you use the ingame screenshot of F12 or whatever it is, then you should be setting that Dvar to "1" or simply removing it from the target line.

It still doesn't work.

Do you get any errors in the console after execing minimap.cfg ?

No.

EDIT: There's no compilation errors. I still can't get the minimap to work, though.

IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES LIKE THIS:
i tried to do the minimap height but it didnt go into high view it just made my player disapear: do the following...

go back to the 2 blocks you created select them both.

click F and select entities.
there in the 2nd BOX DOWN you'll see..
classname script_origin
origin xx xxxx xxxx

in the section that says KEY type: targetname
in the section that says VALUE type: minimap_corner
Then proceed by hitting enter...

press ESC to deselect and save map...

Make sure this are checked at the bottom left hand side of your compile tools..
enable Dev, enable Cheat, enable Dev Script
all three of this must be with a tick symbol then COMPILE as you would. go in map spawn as player press tlide key (console)
type: /set scr_minimap_height 10000
then it will goto top VIEW no need to turn or mess with mouse as it should drop as a birds eye view.
then type: /exec minimap

after that command use Printscreen and capture the image.
then crop just in the white lines.. etc
please read the tut to advance.. since it is very helpfull......
