when i compile my map the models i have placed is black not the color they should be, and when i re-load the map file they are the colors that there suppose to be ,so do the models require light entities or must i compile differantly?
i compiled with "light fast super 2 filter"
if sum1 can help thanx is appreciated!!!!!

ok yes thers alot of awnsers to this but none that made much sence to me but this is the fix i found instead of using misc_model use model_static to place a model in the map and it seems to work great o and dont forget to fix the target line im not gona get into that as i know thers alot of easy to understand fixis 4 that already put in these forums...hope this helps

overuse of model_static leads to laggy maps, they do get better lighting however, lightmapped rather than vertex, and thats why certain models were designed to be used as such. if it suits you to just use a few model_static instead of creating shaders thats quite alright but dont go adding a dozen.

depends narc where you put those models.

If you put them in areas and not to many and make sure you use distancecull, hint and caulk alot, then you could have a reasonable fps.

It all comes down to the amount of brushes you have + the way you caulk/hint certain sections of your map.

Well you know what I mean ;)

sry i didnt post this earlier but the black model issue has been solved for me it was narc'c testpatch2 so if any1 else has this problem there is the fix [rocking]

thats true comm but the model_static also add to network traffic, thats what i was referring to.

I always wondered how your FPS could drop that bad from alone in the map and 10 players ;)

hmmm ok i did not know that ....sry bout the bad info in that case ....no point in making fps lower than needed as i know its a pain to keep fps high as its a mappers never ending battle.. errr... pimp vs fps... but ill give that patch a try maby that will help
