Windows 7 does increase the performance of your computer but it really depends on your hardware, How much memory/ram do you currently have in your pc now? and also you should defrag your harddrive

You don't have anything wrong with your hardware, It's good enough to play the call of duty games and many others. So I wouldn't worry about that..

I highly suggest defragging your harddrive, running a virus scan to make sure you haven't any unwanted visitors lurking around your computer, and give your computer a good clean with a vacuum cleaner your CPU & Graphics card might not be getting enough air so that could cause you to freeze for a second or two, If none of the above work, I suggest installing windows 7 and see if you have any luck with that..

Good luck

I assume you do not have a second drive but if your 500GB is really that full then its time to get an external USB drive. Transfer large files that you do not use (videos or anything else) to free up space. Same with folders with large amounts of smaller downloads etc. If you do defrag your system the fewer files on it the better.

If in the future you decide to get a brand new drive as your primary... say if for example your 500GB fails... partition it into two. Maybe 150 for your system/programs/extraroom and 350 for the rest. Things will run much smoother in the long run.

Misread that. Thought your post said your drive was about full. [casanova]
