This is for COD2 and the export plugin for COD2 only works with Maya 6.0. It will not work with any other version.
Its the COD4/5 export plugin that works with Maya 8.5. |

If you want to make a simple Rigid model, you dont need maya at all, you can use a free 3d program like blender or a trial of milkshape (brilliant program) and use a .OBJ to XMODEL_EXPORT converter.
But if you want to do Character models, then im afraid to say, you cant anymore. Because MAYA6.0 isnt avalible for purchase from Autodesk, so unless you become a criminal, you cant make character models anymore.
(unless you get it second hand) but as im aware, thats pretty unlikely due to the Key protection Alias (old maya developers) used with MAYA 6, and im pretty sure everyone who bought it registered their keys.

Your not listening to me. Essentially, you cant. The bones that you need for rigging the character are maya format, you can probably change these but... you also NEED MAYA 6.0 to be able to export the bones, no other program can use ANY cod exporter that comes with the mod tools.
Unless you buy a second hand version of Maya 6.0 (wouldnt advice) you cant make character models, unless you want to be a criminal. Because Alias/Autodesk no longer support maya 6.0 or sell it.
All these "XMODEL CONVERTERS" you see, can convert a basic RIGID model that doesnt need bones, so for instance... a car for example, however, they will not export characters, as there are 136 joints it must read and understand, hence why I keep talking about "maya 6.0" as this is the only maya that the Cod Exporter will work with.
Im not sure about editing Mel script or w.e the maya language is, but you may be able to hack the exporter for cod2 so it works with the latest versions of maya, but I doubt it, otherwise I'm sure it would have been done already. |
