Hi,

Activision-Blizzard is holding a game competition where the winner will
receive $100,000. Rather than submit a completed game you need to
submit a two-page summary and a video describing your game idea. There
are NDAs involved, so this doesn't look like another contest where the
corporate sponsor lays claim to all materials submitted.

This looks like a great opportunity, especially if you're working on a
game prototype or at least have a design for a game swimming around in
your head.

Here is the Joystiq article about the contest:
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/18/kotick-announces-activisions-half-million-dollar-indie-games-co/

And the initial PDF announcement available on Activision Blizzard's site:

Sounds more like a "We are out of ideas" competition to me but hey if Activision is willing to pay $100, 000. I am sure most people can find the time to come up with a decent idea.

Activision writes...

Quote:
hey guys make us some games that we can rip off, sell and pump out well-milked sequels for 7 years to come

edit: the above quote is entirely inaccurate: sequels would fuel sales for at least a minimum of 10 years

Guys, never EVER EVER touch these kind of competitions.. EVER.

They will pick the idea they know will make billions.

Then they give you your pathetic $100,000 then make $1,000,000,000 out of it... and you will feel like poo-poo for the rest of your life.
