Hey Rasta. If were online at same time I'd be keen. I just don't know how the lag would be? I've had enough problems downloading the files let alone playing online?

It felt like forever to download the game files. I couldn't believe how sporatic the downloads were for steam. Anayway, having finally downloaded both L4D games now and the mapping tools, I've at least got what I need to start mapping. Have fired up hammer to have a quick look.

I did start playing through both L4D games on single player. All the levels at the begining appear to be city style maps. I'm guessing their are more outdoors style maps later on?

I have a very specific idea in mind that requires mapping outside. So I guess I'm going to have to start building and finally get a grip on the hammer [thumbs_up]

Might have to watch Foyles video tutorials again and have had a quick look through all the written tutorials.

I assume their is away to take a sketch/plan of something and import as a tecture so it can be built on just like in radiant!

Well better get started then aye [wink]

Yeah there is a Forest level in L4D and a Swamp level in L4D2, along with other levels that have some outside gameplay.

Yeh have been playing those outdoor levels. Gives a good idea of what can be done.

Still getting to grips with editor. Been too used to radiant. Took me ages to realise I had to press the spacebard to move around the 2d, 3d windows. Using the keyboard was simply painful to create even one room!

Seems like an easier editor to get the level playable. I guess I will find out soon enough.

I would work up a map, but I'm not a L4D fan. It's one of those games that you play through each level once or twice (maybe three times) and then move on to another game.

That and I'm still mapping for CoD4 because I refused to purchase CoDWW, and CoDMW2 was a failure for IW.

Got to say tho, I've started another CoD4 map (after a year or two) and I'm loving it =)!

Did you get the minimum 4 map entries for 1st segment?

I believe I have a firm grasp on the hammer (pun totally intended) and am starting my map proper for 2nd segment.

To tell the truth, I am starting to enjoy mapping for L4D2 even though I find you dont have the same level of control for some aspects of mapping but then it is easier for others (comparing to radiant/COD)

Looking forward to submitting something [wink]

Yes, we actually got the minimum entries. whew. hehe.
We announced that on Sunday during the MODSonair show which will be released on Friday.

We still have to play through them and choose a winner, but that doesn't mean you can't prepare for the next contest. Remember this is a 3 part contest. The only thing you don't yet know is where chapter 2 starts.... because we have to choose the winner from chapter 1. [thumbs_up]

Thanks for asking.
