Hi.

I'm making a l4d2 map, everything was fine but now when the game launches it appears to load and after approx 10 second it will just quit to desktop, no errors, nothing!.

The compile log show no errors, when i check the map for error using the hammer ui it reports no errors, there isn't any leaks and i haven't reached any limits.The only thing in the log is ''NODRAW on terrain surface!'', but this shouldnt cause it as i have had this before when it worked fine.

I appreciate any ideas on the subject

Actually your not supposed to have nodraw on those terrain meshes. Either texture them or kill them. Using the texture application tool you can destroy those surfaces you do not need rather than using nodraw on them.

Make sure you have steam open, i normally run hammer without starting steam, but when it comes to testing, if steam is not on then the game will quit out.

Rasta helped fix this last night, thanks and thanks foyleman, only thing is i can't seem to find them, i checked, well atleast tried to check every displacement but didn't see any texture with nodraw, only thing is a few nodraw brushes pass through displacements, but there isn't much i think i will be able to do about that

Try checking in the compile log where it says "NODRAW on terrain surface", does it have some coordinates next to it.

If it does jump into hammer, open your map, hit view and select go to coordinates. Then enter the numbers it gave you in the log and it should show you where it is.
