I'm just curious about where people think COD4 is going to be in the next year or two. Is it worth putting a significant amount of time into a custom mod?
This has probably been asked a 1000 times already but I'm in the middle of customizing a server which is requiring a significant amount of scripting and alterations. Then there is always the debugging and associated headaches. I also have a tendency to get new ideas thinking 'this would be cool' and add to the project.
After spending hours in an evening coding I always wonder afterward how many people would actually play it considering how empty servers are these days. ![[crazy]](images/BBCode/smilies/crazy.gif) |

whatever you do , remember to have fun with it , thats the main objective for me ![[thumbs_up]](images/BBCode/smilies/thumbs_up.gif) if it aint fun , whats the point ?
personaly , i don't know what the future hold's for the CoD games in general , i HOPE that we can continue to recieve support from Treyarch , i'm really looking forward to thier next release ! but if we see a repeat of the abortion of the community like IW and Activision did with MW2 , i think it will be a deadly blow to CoD modding and mapping community
so enjoy it now , and keep having fun until the future is clearer ![[thumbs_up]](images/BBCode/smilies/thumbs_up.gif) it's only waisted time if you dont enjoy it ![[wink]](images/BBCode/smilies/wink.gif) |

I'm pretty decent at coding so I eventually figure out problems and make things work. But some things make me vent at the screen because its the nearest thing handy for me when they dont.
Actually the first real mp fps I played alot was Unreal 2004 when it was already a couple years old and mods/maps were all over the place. It mostly died out when others like MW1 came along and the MW2 fiasco aside maybe something else is in the works.
UT is 3 years older than MW to be sure but I wonder if people even make mods or maps for it anymore. |

Sure people still map/mod for it. Infact I know some people that are stilling tinkering with vCoD; which came out in late 2003. Quite a bit ago really. As for venting some about some stuff don't worry about it, it gets the best of all of us, nobodys perfect, except perhaps Megan Fox. Somedays I just want to chuck my PC and games out the window and forget about it all, but then I realize how rewarding and fun level designing can be so I stick with it. |
