great competition guys and the prize is superb

personaly , im not a big fan of the L4D games , but , i'm always looking for new stuff to learn about and this has given me the motivation to depart from the world of radiant , and look at learning how to use a different engine and SDK

ive never used hammer , so im excited at the prospect of using a new editor

Umm, being an Aussie and only having the Kiddies version of LFD2 what will happen if I try to create a level for this, will mine be the only level without blood? I haven't actually got the game yet but thinking this contest would be fun to be part of.

L4chy writes...I don't think that's the case. I believe that this is more of a setting for you installation meaning that if you try and play any of these custom levels, you won't see blood. However if we play whatever you create, we should still see blood.

Yup, I believe the blood and gore is client based effects. So even though you won't see it, we will be able to.

Problem is I only have L4D and not L4D2. I really want to enter this so is it okay if it's for L4d?

You are right in the fact that L4D isn't the most popular topic on this site, but it is a very popular game. Already we have a lot of people showing interest, not all of which have posted a 'WIP', how many of these will reach the deadline is unknown but i hope we will have a good number to make a interesting competition.

Don't be disappointed zeroy, go grab yourself a copy of l4d, download the tools and get too work, we all know you have the skill to come up with some nice levels

as well - we are looking at injecting a broader base into the modding community - after all the CoD series isn't the only moddable gaming engine and with the release of L4D2 we felt it time to focus on a contest that would generate more interest... not only within our modsonline community - but without as well

I have been mapping in radiant for over 4 1/2 years, and just love messing around in it and challenging myself to create more realistic enviroments or objects, but...

I recently bought L4D2, a week before the annoucment of Modscon, in the hope that there would be a contest for it, hint hint on modsonair, I have to say I love the game, but not as much hammer. The love is not mutual and hammer seems to not like my interests in terrain patches. I'm getting used to it though and ultimately think it is a very moddable and user friendly game that has a great future.
