I like radiant the best, but I think in this case it's like Ford vs Chevy. It's just something you have to get used to.

nonono,
i realy don't agree. don't get me wrong, when there is someone who like gtk/Radiant, than that's me. i have worked with nearly all of them, (QeRadiant, MohaaRadiant, gtk Radiant 1.2 8 to 1.3.11,1.4 maybe i forget one).
so you can imagen that when i started with hammer i also thought it did suck. but it's realy something that you have to get used to, and learn to use. and, as walways, use the shortcutkeys!!!! i can't say this enough, because than you don't have to push every time again enymore on those butons on the right!! and, looking around in the 3d window is realy as easy as in the gtk's!! something that i didn't liked with mapping doom3. with hammer you can look around in the 3d window by puting your mouse there and just push Z, that's all.

so to keep it short, no, hammer does not suck.

I absolutely hate Hammer. In Radiant, whatever I could possibly think of could be formed in a few simple clicks of the mouse.
Hammer lacks 3 point clipping, one of Radiant's most powerful features.
Radiant lets you form complex shapes quickly and easily throught the use of patch meshes. Hammer's solution to forming complex shapes is displacement, which does not allow for any precision at all.
Hammer's compiler... enough said.
The overall layout and interface is clumsy and I find myself fighjting with the interface morethan getting anything done.
While Hammer, in my opinion, sucks, it is not without its advantages. Hammer's system of inputs and outputs as an alternative to the common scripting is simple enough even for me.

You can also use the W,A,S,D keys to move around the 3D window fast and if you hold down the space bar and hold down your LMB or RMB it will act like the camera tool and if you hold down the space bar in the 2D window and your LMB you can move that around makes it a bit faster.
I like to make it hard for my self at times so I hold down the space bar LMB and use the mouse wheel it is like GTK then and it keeps selected the tool you are using like the block tool or whatever.
