Here is what happened: did the compile, nothing prevented a bsp from being created, flare worked, vis worked as far as I can see. Using CoDUOMaker. Assembled a pk3.

When I started new server to test it out, and spawned in, ONLY 'detail' brushes were visible. You look around and see them spam/stretched across the screen. Fire a gun, you see the muzzleflash/etc etc. Its left me baffled. Spent a few hours going 15 pages back into these forums for an answer, searching, no success.[sad]

My portalling: Seeing as how it seems relevant, here's what I did. Its a fairly open map, with a few very large buildings, and some smaller buildings set up along the banks of a river. Made all the interior walls of the smaller buildings detail, then portaled the windows by fitting Portal no draw brushes in them, texturing the outside as portal. The larger buildings had some of their bigger/longer walls left as structure, again, fitted the portals texturing the outside. (There were a number of leaks here, fixed most of those.) That is essentially all that has been done as far as portalling.

First check your bsp options in radiant, is there anything enabled?

Of the 5 options in that drop down menu, none have checkmarks next to them.

If you are using custom textures they also have to be in the map pk3 file using the same path as you used in your editor.

I haven't created any custom textures, nor went looking for any. Used only the ones that came with the editor (and moved around from the existing game paks). In previous compiles, the terrain, outside walls (aka Structure brushes) were visible.

To be more clear on the original problem, the brushes aren't necessarily gone, they are solid but invisible. The same is true of models (for instance some of the spawns are in bases as this is a base assault intended map). The same is true of terrain: solid but invisible.

After a little Q&A with a buddy on vent, and looking at other posts here (Like This One), I found a couple problems I will look into.

My terrain is possibly all alpha texture, which is no good, I hear. Will also fix worldspawn. Will edit this to let you know how it goes.

Edit: Changed all the terrain to non-alpha, fixed worldspawn (unless I did that wrong [banghead]) still the same problem. Still baffled. [confused]

Posting the .map file, in a desperate measure to try and get an answer. If anyone wants to take a look at it, yell at me for my terrible portalling, whatever, its all good. I just want this map to start working.

I don't know if this is relavant, but I just portaled a building in COD4. When I walk up to the window, everything inside disappears. So, I fixed it by deleting a few portal brushes to make a larger portal. gl
