You never said what version of Maya you're using.

In the past, I tried using Maya 2009 with the Maya8 plugins and they didn't load. It works perfectly now with Maya 8.5.

well mine is maya 2008 how do i tell what version it is?

The version is 2008. So I dont think the plugins will work. 8.5 was the last one with a real version number before they started using years.

Before the 8 plugin version was available the way to get v7 to work was to open it in a hex editor and change the version number. But in that case it was only changing a 7 to an 8. Changing an 8.5 to 2008, I dont know. Theres a webpage about that somewhere. I think on the same site as the tutorial you used.

Most likely not. It was I who discovered the 'hack' to make it work on 8.0, and I was very surprised it worked at all. Maya 2008 is further away from v8.0 than v8.5, so it's even less likely to be compatible.
