402 said Mod Tools are coming.
http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=256782%23p3790854

"Yes, we currently plan to release some mod tools for Modern Warfare 2 for PC in the future. No eta or date has been set on when you can expect them however. Other than that, there hasn't been much movement on them. If this progresses, I'll let you know."

Interesting news Alex but it raises a few questions.

The biggest question I have is how would you share this new built map? Most likely we will be able to make maps for shits and giggles or perhaps give the new map back to IW so that they can sell it to people to play.

If they dont give us dedi servers, the ability to mod for it then quite simply they can stick their tools up their butts.

Quite possible this is just for the SP/ Spec Ops side of the game.

If it's for MP, I suspect it won't even connect to IW Net at all so it wouldn't even be ranked. Probably can have HTTP redirect but still play off the host locally.

personally, i don't think i will ever have the urge to purchase & play - let alone mod for MW2

my understanding is that it is the most rigidly linear game released in the cod series, and unfortunately it is likely the downfall of the series (unless Treyarch can bail out the titanic...)

this sounds more like a desperate ploy by IW to draw in a PC crowd as the console kiddies are likely moving onto their next flavor of the week

record breaking sales all based on number 'estimated' by activision and iw...not 1 press release mentions 'actual' numbers...only internal estimates...

There would definitely need to be a patch for the inclusion of mod tools and for the use / testing of them. I'm sure once the release date of the tools is closer, then I'll have those details for you.

Right now though, I'd consider the Mod Tools as something that we'd like to add. Not something that is guaranteed to be added as I know game updates, patches, and DLC are currently the priority of the team.

Think they can put them where the sun don't shine, to put it nicely... Trying to drum up a few more PC sales it looks like, just don't forget a few month back they wouldn't even look at us, now things are starting to slow down they chuck up a line to keep people interested..

Shame on you act/iw

hhmm , talk about mixed messages , first it was all rejection of the pc modding community now they are considering releasing a set of mod tools ! makes no sense

unless they have run out of ideas for MW3 already

in all seriuosness though, at what level will this be moddable ? as others have said , without dedi servers MP is out the window so that leaves SP and CO-OP , the coop side of this game will never be as succesfull as the zombie modding was/is with W@W so that only leaves SP

plus you would have to buy the game itself ! bad deal all round really
