Well im not that new too mapping, and im currently making a new map, its all gone fine until i have discovered a problem i've had before. I made a floor to a docking station i have, and well its invisible, i've tried everything, changing textures and making a different floor [confused]

Any answers?

Could you make a pic in Radiant ?

Is this floor terrain or just a normal brush ?
If it's a brush, is it structural ?
If it's terrain make sure the texture isn't a blend one (although, I suppose it's solid and you can walk on it, just can't see it).
What happens if you shoot it ? Any FX ?

Do you get any errors at compile ?

Nope, ive just realised my attempts to fix it and try add more brushes arnt appearing, and ive got a few error's in the compile (maps not updating) here take a look,

Hmm I had these errors once a long time ago when I made some super huge brushes - I'm not entirely sure but try to cut the brushes up into smaller chunks or press SHIFT + L and lower the resolution of your lightmaps.

ERROR: Lightmap uses more than one pixel per inch.

I know this error is caused by meshes that are streched, usually for me it happens when I've created a cylinder, resized it, and forgot to click "S" and get the texture back to it's natural state. Sometimes it is better to texture it caulk, click natural, under the surface inspector, and then change it to the correct texture you want it to be.

ERROR: Lightmap for surface needs to be 311x515, which is larger than 512x512; try multiplying sampleScale by at least 1.1

You changed a setting in the lights properties, try doing what it says to fix these type of errors.


File>error file will get you to the infected brushes, but I assume you already know this.

might try hightlighting the brush, press shift+L and click LMAP or Natural.
