My compile tools wont show inany way It is running and using 50% of proccesor

More information would be useful, does it show up at all or does it close instantly? What operating system are you using?

O/S is XP It is not showwing in task manager as a running application, but it is showwing as a running process. The only way to close it is from task manager.
