Okey, first of all i have an excue to use this forum lol, as my cod disc was in the machine when this happened:

I was talking on msn and listening to music, then i noticed the screen was flickering then i couldnt right click on anything then it logged me out, then i quickly ejected the CODUo disc and the CPU turned itself off! [confused]

so i waited a while and truned it back on, the defualt mono speeker at the back was going crazy (like a car alarm) and it got stuck at the "LOADING EMACHINES" screen, i pressed F8 and i went to see what was wrong, apparently the A drive has an error??

so i oviously have no clue how to fix it so i just went out of the bios and logged in okey, all seems to be good, but can anyone tell what might have happened, an what i should do?

It sounds like a forced shutdown by your CPU. You better let your pc cool down and disconnect the power and open up the case to check of non of the cables are blocking on of your vents and check if all cables are properly connected. Start your pc back up and see if all vents are running at normal speed and listen if your motherboard doesnt make any beeping sounds (error messages). If your hear beeping sounds or your pc is still acting wierd then shut it down immediately and go to a pc-shop to have it complete checked !!

Good advice from Sgt Andy there, also make sure all cables are tight and full into their sockets, Clean and make sure all fans are spinning Ok (that includes the graphic card fan if it has one) You mention an error report in the bios about the floppy drive (A:) the floppy drive may have gone belly up or the floppy controller on the mobo. Try a floppy disk in if you have the pc up and running again, see if the pc can read from a disk. If it doesnt bung a new floppy drive in (cheap as chips them)

well i dont think the A drive has ever been used, could be dust? anyway i opened it and cleaned the pc out totally, then i took apart the fans and cleaned them and connected all cables again to make sure,

the pc seems fine but when checking the properties and features of the A drive (right click a drive basically) it sounds like a fan noise or its reading something which it dosent like, i might run it up to the shop, but i dont see how the A drive can make tho wole pc crash?

Take the Floppy drive out and see if that sorts the problem.

You also say that the mobo beaps at you (like a car alarm) my old mobo used to do this and i got an error measage saying "CMOS battary low" If you have this try changing the mobo battary or revert to default setings to see if it will boot up.

Bios beep-sounds during startup can mean lot of things :
Check what brand of bios you have and try to find the beep codes on the net

common codes are :

Continue beep : Fault power supply or mainboard
Continue short beeps : Fault power supply or mainboard
1 x Short beep : P.O.S.T. is ok system is normal
2 x Short beep : P.O.S.T. found error in Video
1 x Long , 1 x Short beep : Mainboard error
3 x Long beep : P.O.S.T. found error keyboard-interface

The rest of the codes are depending on the brand of bios
