They have no reason not to release singleplayer modtools. Mappack sales won't go down because it is for singleplayer and they will regain some respect from the mod community.

The argument that paid for DLC is somehow stopping mod tools is bogus. Custom content doesnt affect DLC. Custom maps can only ever be played on a modded server; DLC is played on a ranked stock server. Its the ones who dont want to play modded servers who will buy DLC.

Umm; so people with the access too free maps that are just as good as IW's, will not download them; but instead pay for them? I personally would rather get things for free that pay if I can.

I think your argument is null.

Umm, you think my argument is null because you Umm, dont understand it. The linch pin of my argument - the part that you clearly misunderstand completely - is that you cant put custom content on a stock server. So all the free maps in the world ant going to compete with DLC which can be run on a stock server - paid for or other wise.

There are thousends of COD4 server admins atm who never run custom content, even though its free. Why is that? They dont run it because it changes the status of the server from stock to modded. So, when the chance for DLC content comes along - paid for or otherwise - it seems pretty obvious that they will get it so that they can add to their stock rotation.

Perhaps you can't understand my anology... Why is that?

To get to the point...Why exactly would a server admin put DLC on there server knowing that everybody else would have to pay too for those maps when most of the community will flock to the modding communties side.

Well to sum up, IW are talking about Mod Tools... nothings certain though and no one knows how this will work server side with the match making system and ranked/unranked matches.

So basically we know that they don't know.
