nfinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has posted on the Modern Warfare 2 boards that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has already outsold the PC version of the original Modern Warfare.

This is despite the PC version having the smallest market share when compared to the console versions.

“The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has actually outsold the PC version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in its first week,” wrote Bowling,”making it the most successful PC version.”

Bowling did not provide numbers, but it sounds like the lack of dedicated servers didn’t matter to loads of folks.

By PC version he means "Console version with Mouse+Keyboard support"

That really annoys me when people put on this big act of ''ow no im never getting that rubbish.. iw's this and that'' but they can't stick to there word and see it too the end.

I said i'm not going to buy it, and i havn't. If everyone done what they 'said' it would have been a different story all together..

Oh and look at the 'boycott' group on steam.. is anyone on that list not actually playing mw2? Bit of a joke really.

IW and ATI have played up this MW2 fiasco in hopes to better their numbers for a substandard product...i suppose if you cant dazzle them with quality - baffle them with bullsh!t

Half the people from the Steam Boycott group were playing Modern Warfare 2 on the day of release. Infact some of them even had stuff like "TIME TO PLAY MW2!!" in their names - it's just sad.

X-FIRE shows CoD4 MP is being played more than MW2, CoD2 has 50% less players than MW2 which is quite an achievement considering the game is kinda old by now.

Makes me want to believe that the modders are the only people with brains still playing the CoD series.

Give it a couple of weeks and people are going to get bored and be

Yeah, they lie and say the sales are going good just so you give in and buy it. They want us to think our cause is lost.. well i'm still not getting it. Unless dedicated servers and mods become possible... i wont get it... thats about the only way they could change my mind.

Personally, I think it's just a ploy by IW to get us to give up. By saying that it has already outsold 'the game' makes it easier for us to say, 'oh, ok, i guess i can get the game now since everyone else is.' The question I have is if MW2 has outsold COD4, then what's up with this?

I realize that these are only numbers for players logged into Xfire while gaming.

I'm not that impressed with the videos that I've seen of MW2. The maps don't look like they spent much time on them and completing a challenge every 5 seconds with the announcer saying 'Wicked Sick' in the pro wrestling emcee voice is a little juvenile. Oh yeah, and don't get me started on the whole "party up" thing and Bowling's quote, "hop and pop". I'm not bitter, but they should have made a PC version, or just sell XBOX versions that come with a cable so you can play your XBOX through your PC. "not a direct port" pfffffft "no change to multiplayer" pffffffffft

The on-line life of this game will be about 3 months. So sad, I guess I still have my fantasies of what could've been.
