Hello to all,

I was wondering if it was possible to export from one custom map to another, I have made some cool buildings that I would love to just port over to another level I'm making. Could somone walk me through the steps on how to do it ???

I just started editing with Hammer, all my previous experience was with GTK radiant and I know you can just save selection as in GTK but I'm unable to do it with hammer.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ???

Thanks

Kast

I've also noticed there isn't a fancy Import button in Hammer. What I do is....

Open the map you want to copy the item FROM, and select the item (building) - If you haven't grouped it, now might be a good time.

After you have your building fully selected, right click and 'copy' your selection. (after you have copied your selection, you can close your map if you want.)

Now open the map you want to copy the building TO. Right click the grid and paste your selection, then move it accordingly. (save your map after your satisfied with the placement).

I know this is a pretty rudamentary method of doing it, but without the import feature its kind of difficult. If you plan on using the building more then once, you might consider making it a prefab.

Hope this helps.

A_Drunken_Theory is right, i just wanted to say that you have to look carefully if the brushes that you did copy and paste are on the corners of the grid. most of the times i copy and paste something it's beside the grid.
(with GTKRadiant it was indead so mutch more easy, just make a big brush around the object, select inside, copy, next map paste, great editor!!)
still, hammer with hl2 is also very nice pice of work!

succes,
leon
