Valve is trying to workout a means of getting community mods for the Left 4 Dead game onto the 360. Right now the biggest obstacle is that most of the mods out there are built for mid to higher end PCs. The Xbox 360 isn't either of these... it's much slower.

"The coolest thing we could ever do would be to take something that was made by the community and share it with everybody - including Xbox 360 owners," Faliszek said. "How that happens and what work needs to be done is a little bit complicated."

Yup

However this could be a very very small step towards cross platforming, Although I guess if Microsoft has anything to say about it, It won't be happening anytime soon.

Valve like any developer would need all your source files. Then it would need to be cleared with Microsoft, not just about costs, but the content has to be verified as suitable for it's users.

I don't see how this is difficult for them to work out though, it would be released just like ANY other DLC, only if they release it with a price tag I'm sure they would give a percentage to the original modder/mapper.

If Valve does this then other developers might actually think about it too.

Also I read it in a slightly different way... "BUT How that happens and what work needs to be done is a little bit complicated"....

But wait.. In CoD console players have to pay for maps, yet Valve wants to import community mods free of charge?

They are either hiding their secret plans to get money from this idea or they do actually care about the community that plays their games.
