An unrecoverable error has occured. Would you like to edit Preferences before exiting Q3Radiant?

My Radiant is popping up that ^^ error message, then shows me a preference menu. I tried to edit the preferences but it just closes. Please help, I just started not making crappy maps!

You need to point the editor to the project file.

i believe that typically it is in the bin folder - at work currently so i can't follow up on that location.

have a view of the setting up the editor tutorial for whichever version you are trying to map for (you have posted in CoD - original - forums)...they are all available in the upper left corner under tutorials...

and don't bump on the same day please... the first thing you need when mapping is patience

Okay, here's what's in my Tools > bin folder:

  1. Asset Manager
  2. Autosave.bak
  3. Autosave (MAP File)
  4. cod.def
  5. cod (Configuration Settings)
  6. cod.qe4
  7. CoDRadiant(The actual program)
  8. converter (Batch File)
  9. Flare.cfg
  10. flare (Batch)
  11. q3map(Batch)
  12. skelout.dle

Okay, I tried replacing the .qe4 in the /maps folder and that didn't work. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, I tried editing the game path, and I tried turning on/off the "load saved project" option. Nothing is working!

when you open the editor it wants you to locate the project file (it should pop up a browser window)

locate in the bin folder cod.qe4 and you should be good to go

I got it to work again! But is there any way I don't have to repeat that every time I open Radiant?

i would recommend to clean the registry for codradiant, that would set the settings to default, and after you change it again, it will hopefully last.

to do that: start -> run -> regedit

find this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> CodRadiant

delete CodRadiant entry (the whole folder), and start CodRadiant app again, locate the bin/cod.qe4, and hopefully you're done
