looking for a mapper to build an office building map for me and my buddies.

I've got a very specific design based on our actual office building, and I'd like to include DM, TDM, CTF, and HQ. it would be a small/medium sized map: there are two buildings, each with 3 stories and a parking lot surrounding both.

I'd do this myself, but I'm a mac user and don't have a PC for the mapping tools, or the time to learn how to use them.

I would like to pay for your time and expertise, so please email screenshots or links of your favorite work along with info about what you'd charge for your work. when I select a mapper, I'll provide detailed design info with pictures and stuff.

my email: circuschaser@gmail.com

thanks,
rob

There are legal issues surround this kind of thing. Best to read up on that first as I'm still not entirely clear on it.

BUT you most definitely can not pay for the map or any materials that are built using the modding tools, you can however if you feel like it, give someone some money through the internet for what ever reason you want.. just make it clear that you are not paying for what they made.

--

If you could throw some reference pics at us of the map you want it would get users creative juices flowing and I'm sure you'll get offers. Definitely check up users portfolios, especially released content for the right mapper for the job.

I understand what you are saying techno2sl and I would agree. However, I dont think that compensation to the mapper would come under that since it is only for his time/labour. Obviously the map is not being bought, nor the materials, engine etc. Simple compensation to the mapper for his time.

Interesting though, interested to see what others have to say.

Be careful, especially when money is involved, you will no doubtget messages from some people with little to no mapping experience looking to make some quick cash. Try to stick to people well known around modsonline, this way you have a good indication of who they actually are.

One last thing, keep your wallet closed untill you have everything you wanted.

Oh and techno, there isn't anything wrong with paying someone for time spent on the project, like you said, its only if you trying to sell the actual map you have problems.

thanks for the feedback, and the heads-up on the legal issue.

I'm not looking to break any laws, I just don't want guys thinking I'm looking for something for free, so yeah I'd just be paying for their time I suppose.

I'll try to get some reference pics up tomorrow (it's raining today)

thanks,
rob

I have made maps for people before of their own design, and they have just given me a 'donation' for time spent on construction..
I would not accept any donation unless they where perfectly happy with it thow..

here are a few pics.

I only really care about the overall structure of the building, the stairwells, and the layout of the top (3rd) floor. also, it needs to have DM, TDM, CTF, and HQ.

anything else you can dress up however you want, including the parking lot around the building, the first and second floors, any prefab buildings you want to stick in, snow, trees, fog, MG42's in the windows, whatever.

hard to see in these pics, but it's narrower at the front than it is at the back. below in the back is a two level parking deck. the whole thing is surrounded by a parking lot

I've left the roof off the diagrams I put together so you could see the top floor layout, but it'd be nice to have a roof up there we could climb to.

I don't know how hard mapping is, but if it doesn't make a difference to you, I've always been partial to the Russian snow maps, so if you wanna make this along those lines, I'd be cool with that.

I can only put up 3 pictures here, but if you decide you wanna tackle let me know cause I've got a bunch more I could send you. I could also send over the Google Sketchup file I built for reference; I don't know if that would help or not.

any other questions, just email me.

thanks,
rob

Thats a nice building, if you would be able to provide a blueprint for the 1st floor i coul probably give it a go.

here are three more pics.

the top down view is the closest I can give you to an actual blueprint, although it shows only the 3rd floor. I suppose if you wanted you could use the same layout for each floor, though that might get confusing in game play.

email me direct if you'd like more diagrams or photos.
