You might need to restart steam to see it as I had to.

I don't know why but I feel like ranting.

I think L4D2 looks to be an amazing game, but I'm never going to buy it. I despise STEAM and what they are doing to the gaming world. I understand the purpose and times are changing, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

Quote:
That reminds me, I bought F.E.A.R. 2 and popped in the disk, not realizing that this was indeed a STEAM game, yeah, I assumed and was suddenly turned off when the install started. I took out the Disk and broke it in half. What's that say about how I feel about STEAM? Then again, maybe I'm just an idiot for not reading the packaging first before buying it. Let's just say I learned something that day.

Maybe I'm just old school. I don't like to be forced into things, I'm not a prison inmate. [moon]

Thank god STEAM leaves their back door open. [crazy]

Have fun with the Demo!

I'm not criticizing you for disliking Steam, but I am curious to know what you think it's doing to the gaming world. The only problem I have with it is that it makes it far too easy for me to buy games on impulse.

Heeey! [thumbs_up] Sounds like they got you wrapped up!
Kids compare, "how many games you got on STEAM?" "I'm up to 105, woot!" I think that is hilarious.

Of course this is only my opinion, but the game is no longer tangible or soon to be. You can't sell it anymore. For me, if I have an old game that I don't play anymore at least I can get some money for it. That isn't even the biggest reason. I just think they are shady and I don't like the way they are doing business.

It almost makes me feel like I'd be renting movies on demand. I'm sorry, I like tangible things, I like holding it, and looking at it. Something I worked for to get, just like any investment. Just like all software, it doesn't even exist. It's just information, blah blah

I don't need an app. to run my games through or let alone organize them for me, I can do that on my own. I was always turned off by games that made you sign up on some dumb website just so you could play the game under their account. I'm done being owned by bad business. They can keep the 40 bucks. [rolleyes]

I own my machines so that I can have the freedom to use them how I want and it seems that companies are getting more and more control over how I run my own system, and I just don't like it.

They simply found a shady way to sell games and I think it's bad business, and in the long run, a bad move for all the people who love custom content. They are working towards the ultimate goal, which is one, seamless gaming network, which most likely will have the name "Project Natal" somewhere mixed within it's birth.
All these companies are trying to find ways to merge games so they can be ready for the jump when it hits. Yet, another reason for the direction of MW2.

"Project Natal" *sigh* The beginning of a new revolution of home entertainment, global phone system and all the 1's and 0's that go with it. Blah blah blah

Like I said, times are changing in the gaming world, and I only have two choices. I can either Get Back In Line, or simply GTFO. In a nutshell, STEAM makes me feel like a pet on a leash, and all I'm doing is wearing a circle in the rug.

Someone told me the other day, that, Trix are for kids. I believe it.

STEAM is a good thing, but it is only a great thing when everybody loves it. I think my rant will cease there. I don't feel like starting any arguments. [sad]

Yes. You can still pre-order the game for early access and a 10% discount if you like.
