If anyone has already covered this sorry about the repeat, but in case you missed it PC players, here it is.

Activision has delayed the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 it seems, pushing the multi-platform game back by two weeks on the PC, but not on other platforms.

The game will now be released on November 10th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but has been pushed back until November 24th on the PC according to RockPaperShotgun .

Activision has yet to explicitly confirm the delay by the looks of it, but it's hardly an unlikely scenario given how many multi-platform games are being delayed on PC nowadays over fears of piracy.

Speaking to a source within the PC-side of the games industry last month, bit-tech was told that although publishers often try to hide the piracy fears by talking of adding extra features the real cause is always piracy. Activision previously fell into controversy with fans when it announced the price of the enormously popular game would be upped higher than most other titles earlier this year.

Other possible reasons for the delay include a manufacturing problem, according to ElectronicTheatre, which would fit with the enormously late turn of events and lack of formal comment.

1- Higher price
2-No demo or beta
3-Delays the game

That only makes the piracy grow up,a person who download a game will preffer to wait 2 weeks before buying the game.

Pd:If cod1 didn't come out for pc first, cod wouldn't be what is now.

Srry for my low english

Thats just great! Maybe they should cast there minds back to the fact that if it wasn't for the PC, the CoD series wouldn't have been where it is today.

I fear it wont be long untill PC gaming is a thing of the past, with just a few MMO's left to play as developers are scared they will only make 100mil profit due to piracy.. What a hard life they have! [mad]

Activision has not confirmed nor denied this rumor at this time. How about everyone just take a big chill pill and wait til more definitive info is made public.....

If someone has SOURCED proof that this is indeed so then how about posting up something real instead of something that someone most likely made up to get more hits on a site.

All I am doing is passing along what I find. I neither said it was true or false. Just passing along the information and let each person judge for themselves. Maybe someone will read this, and do some digging and come up with proof one way of the other. In fact in the article it's self it says, and I quote " Activision has yet to explicitly confirm the delay" end quote. There are several articles out there on this subject, not just one. If you'd like to read the article I quoted from, here is the link. ( http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2009/10/05/modern-warfare-2-pc-delayed/1)

Here are some more links on the same subject.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/10/modern-warfare-2-delayed-two-weeks-for-pc/

And heres a link to Activisions updated release schedule. ( http://electronictheatre.co.uk/index.php/industry-news/3219-activision-blizzard-updated-release-schedule) You will note that on this schedule it now has the release date for MW2 as November 24th and not the 10th as previously stated by Activision.

Sites like electronictheatre.co.uk have been posting Activison season title release dates for years. If they were to suddenly start making a big storm through a lie they made up, they would be committing suicide - the site would be over, Activison would never ever give them another press release or seasonal title release list again, and its reputation would be tarnished forever. And for what? A couple of days of extra activity on their site?

If they have lied about it, the owner of the site must be a fool. But Im inclined to think that anyone who runs a site like electronictheatre, which is used by many other European sites for news updates, is not a fool, and is therefore telling it as it was told to them.

Personally I dont care what one site or the other says about release dates, I only care what Activision has to say about it and historically speaking they dont say much about anything in a timely nor in a concise manner. I will go so far as to say that little of what they say can be taken to the bank.

Having said that,

@killcrazyobc,

Trust me, I wasnt slamming you in any way. I dont really care about the release date as I dont intend to be the first in line to grab this game. Like many others last year I was a victim of buying a beta release instead of a proven gold release. It took months for the community to be given what even slightly looked like a real game. I dont expect much more this time around.

@ DemonSeed,

Sites like electrontheatre may very well have a proven track record and they MAY be right again on this latest information. In my original post I did not name any particular site nor was I alluding to any. You picked that site out not me. Regardless, no matter which site you or I choose to name or not name the simple fact remains that with all the hype and bullshit surrounding this latest release I will only believe it if Activision themselves announce it or the stores dont have it when they should.

Quite frankly I am tired of the marketing ploys, the rumors, the unbelieveably bad trailers and such that we are being subjected to with this release. All that I have really been seeing is vid clips that offer very little new and exciting features and lots of remade old boring material. In short this is a poor looking sequel/money grab spiced up with toys for the console kiddies.

Dont let me stop any of you people from living your lives around the speculation machine that goes hand in hand with this release.

Well, I named the site as its the only one who has the info. Every other site reporting the delay are sourcing back to electronictheatre.co.uk.

As for Activison announcing anything, there is the whole rub: if they give sites a seasonal release list with dates, isnt that announcing it? Are we to believe only the bad news about the delay on MW2 PC? Or can we be expected to believe the other stuff they've announced as well?

It all comes down to a question of trustworthyness - should we believe them when they say such and such a title will make the sheleves at such and such a time?

As for stores, reports are saying some online stores are already changing the pre-order dates to the 24th. Go read the 84 page thread about it at IW.com for details of those who have changed the date, and those who havent.

Im not sure the cause of delay but have read a few different ideas, one of which being a piracy thing. What i can't understand is how will delaying release effect piracy?

Surely it won't make any difference will it? I can see it having the an effect on whether the people who want to play the game on release will have to buy a console copy but then a 2 week delay will either make people buy the pc copy later, or more likely due to expense, download it,

LOL, I will pass on page 84 and I may consider looking for the game itself on some store shelf after other people have gotten the game and reported in on its virtues and sins.....

In the meantime I will continue with my next WaW map.
