Brothers in arms ™: Road to hill 30 has been released today (friday 18th) so i thought ide give a few comments on it:
I been waiting a long time for this game and been playing it all day
The good things - The character and enviroment graphics are really amazing, you really do get a good atmosphere of the surroundings and if you pump up the volume you fell as if you could be there. The weapons seem good, nice sounds and realistic sway. A nice little feature you find in the game is when you get stuck on a mission and therefore die after a few attempt you have the option to heal your team including yourself whch really does come in handy. Nice ragdoll effect and a bit of fun to blowing people up and also shooting someone leaves a nice bloodsplat on the walls
The bad things - Personally i think that this game has a terrible multiplayer, i was hoping it would be like call of duty but it far from it, you need to create an account with ubi.com to play, then the games are very small the largest i could see was 5/5 players ![[confused]](images/BBCode/smilies/confused.gif) . Ubisoft seems to make a big deal out of the AI but in my opinion there a bit dumb at times, like taking cover behind light posts and running into the open. I commented earlier on the weapons, although they are good i dont think the realism when you shoot people is very good by this i mean i find it does the same damage where ever you shoot them.
Still i think it worth getting but its far from what i expected, i think they really used there advertising well to make it better than it is, i was hoping it would be the next CoD but i think it wont get close in multiplayer!

Oh dear it seems the prophet really is lost. It dosn't decapitate cod with what is essentially an over feed hammer and so there is no corpse to bash with a stone, pebble, rock or even fossil
The moment i saw that this game was comming out i was going to buy it no matter what. It dosn't live up to what i hope it would be, but it does live up to what i expected it would be.
Its sp has some really good aspects. The importance of suppress and flank is great and also the fact that you can have a fire fight between 15 or 16 guys without anyone getting hit for quite a while is a very realistic touch. Theres no running through the level guns blazing enabling the mappers to make quite small levels (at least the playable areas) without making the levels feel cheep or you feeling cheated.
The characters still were not as deep as i had hoped but they did a far better job than any other ww2 game so far (we ARE getting there)
It was great to finally have a game played along a narrative timeline and not jumping from week to week or country to country and the locations did feel complete. It is a pitty that the enemy ai are not that realstic to kill (to many shots to knock them down)
Swearing was a nice touch. Alot of games shy away from bad language becuase it narrows their potential audience but it adds a lot of intensity to a situation
This is the sort of game i would propably play after watching saving private ryan or band of brothers but not generally for fun
A hybrid of cod and bia would be great. 70% cod and 30% bia. Hopfully thats what the ww2 fps genre is slowly moving to wards. It would be great in terms of realism and fun
Huge battle scenes, no health packs, a wide variety of weapons, realistic amounts of ammo, a great multiplayer, intresting and important characters, beautiful enviroments, realistic tactics
On another note the new metal gear solid is great, im not much of a console gamer but i make the odd acception. It impressed me that it actually makes you feel abit at the end, were not talking green mile standard but its a damn good effort, i think games with a well written story and indepth characters are the future, games that make you care and make you think, oh and games where you get to kill stuff |
