I made myself a nice rope bridge. I load it into any map, any map I've made at all, and it looks fine...until I compile it. Then about 5% of the prefab is in the spot I put it in my .map, and the other 95% ends up at some random location...

I put it here...

And that's where the bulk of it ends up.

Any idea why this is happening? I've successfully made and used my own prefabs before, this is seeming to come out of nowhere.

I've had this problem a few times in Radiant. I loaded a map with a prefab, and some parts of the prefab moved to some random locations (mostly z axis moves).

I always 'fixed' it by entering and leaving the prefab, which forced some kind of redraw / calculation. Maybe your map had the same problem in Radiant -> you compiled it -> ingame the bridge was moved.

But I wonder if you haven't tried that already. :)

I'm confused...What did you do to fix it?

:) To fix it in Radiant:

1. Select the prefab.
2. Right click -> 'Enter Prefab'
Prefab opens
3. Right click -> 'Leave Prefab'

This forces Radiant to recalculate the 3D view.

So, I'm extremely late on this but I didn't do much with that map afterward, but here I am 3 months later on a very unrelated map and the same thing happened again: A few pieces of the prefab are in the right spot and the rest is in some random spot.

I tried doing what you said but to no avail [sad]
Anything else?

Try loading up your prefab and moving it all to origin 0,0,0 - save. Then place it in your map again because it will have moved..

The hell? Something in common with both prefabs were that they had cylinders in them. I took them out of the prefab and it fixed [ohwell]
