My problem is that radiant takes (seriously) about a half hour to load my map. I've putted something in from another map and since that it takes a long time loading. So i removed the part and nothing changed [confused]. The beginning it loads just like normal, loading all the models/textures. But when it is almost finished it just stops. Then i've to wait a half hour (windows xp says that is doesn't react anymore), and then suddenly it is there. Anyone here has a clue or do i've just to wait a half hour every time i want to edit something (did it till now but it is verry annoying).

how big is the map? although even the biggest of maps dont take half an hour to load [confused] I know this is a bit obvious but are you running any other programs at the same time, or is it just that particular map?

well nothing else is running, it is just this map and the other map from wich i got the brush but that "only" takes 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure it was somthing with the brushes, i clipped them for a flak 88 but i got verry little an strange brushes. But why does it keep loading so slow when i've removed it. The map is pretty small, smaller then dawnville wich loads fine.

I'm having the same problem. However mine is only taking about 10-15 min to load. It also started when I brought in prefabs. I tried the same thing with deleting them and get the same problem. I don't have any other program running. I decieded to try to compile to see if that would work but during compiling my pc keeps locking up. This is my 4 or 5th map and I've never had this problem before.

how big is this map? bigger maps like the stock Dawnville one take longer to load (obviously) but if this is a smaller map then maybe it's your pc specs, also try cubic clipping the camera view before you load the map

mine is 3.5 kb but the thing is it's not that much bigger than some of the other maps I've built.(in over all map size not memory size) With each version of the map I saved you can see the memory jump a very large amount with a minimal amount of brushes added. One thing I noticed is within cod builder it is saying I have 192,000 lines which is crazy. The version before the most updated one only had 48,000 lines. Of all my previous maps I think the next closest was like 21,000. Why this number is jumping so fast I have no idea.

Did you use some CSG functions? Did you repeatedly place clip or other brushes because they weren't being shown? Did you use undo to change textures? All those things can lead to duplicate brushes, maybe that's why the number jumped.

If once the map is loaded in your editor it's slow to move about it definatly try pushing the cubic clipping camera button.

Hey yeah I really don't know if I have this problem as well, but.. When I add in some models, like a microphone, speakerbox, chairs, such, it compiles. Then when I go to run it in the game the loading tab stops about a quarter of the way, and then i check tasks and it says not responding. Now I believe I have done a lot of it right, but this has been happening to me for a couple weeks now. Hmm.. wonder why it takes so long as well.. the map isn't big right now.

The problem is this:

If you group several brushes together in order to use that select one it selects all in the group deal then you are in for trouble. There is a bug in radiant that keeps remaking that group in your map file till it is so big it never loads.

The fix:

Open the .map file in any text editor and start at the end. You will find 10's, hundreds, even thousands of a group of lines. delete them all!

They will look somehting like this:

{
"classname" "group_info"
"group" "Stairs_Outside"
}
{
"classname" "group_info"
"group" "Stairs_Outside"
}
{
"classname" "group_info"
"group" "Stairs_Outside"
}

Delete em all!

That worked. The map loads in a sec or two now. Thanks for the help. I'm going to try to compile it and see if it also fixed the locking up problem.
