can't say i have seen that error before, but to start seeing what the problem could be i would suggest finding the brush mentioned in the error message.

havent got codwaw tools installed but in quake4 you do "misc\find brush" then put in the numbers in the error message.

see what that brush is and perhaps delete it if there is no obvious problem with it. make sure you map is saved (maybe make a copy) before you delete it so you can allways just load it back up.

yeah i've done that...teh brush didnt seem to have any relation to the portal...

i'm startin to think this bit is where i should be lookin...

yeah is probably some dodgy brush near the brush it is flagging in the error message. might be worth deleting the brushes around it one by one and trying a recompile (obviously saving a backup before doing it). i have had similar problems before and that was the only way i could sort it. well hope you get it sorted man!
