I am trying to set up DOM and have followed the IW tutorial as best I can. However I am not clear what and where the key/values are supposed to be entered for DOM?

From IW wiki tutorial
Quote:
3 DOM flags must be placed throughout the map. Generally these are either placed in a “line” from the friendly to enemy base, or are evenly placed around asymmetrical maps.

To place a prefab, right-click in the 2D view of Radiant and choose the misc/prefab option. Browse to the map_source/prefabs/MP directory and place dom_flag_primary_a.map, dom_flag_primary_b.map and dom_flag_primary_c.map in the appropriate locations.

Next to each flag, place a script/origin entity. The settings of this entity determine friendly and enemy spawning when that flag is captured. (For instance, if linkto has two values, enemies might spawn at either one of those locations when friendlies have that flag captured.)

Is "linkto" one of the settings or is supposed to be "script_linkto"? As said here....

Quote:
The middle B flag in a linear map would have the following settings: script_linkname: flag2 script_linkto: flag1 flag3 targetname: flag_descriptor

Flag A and Flag C would have a linkname value of flag1 and flag3, respectively. In a linear map, Flag A would have a linkto value of flag2. However, with an asymmetrical layout it might have a script_linkto value of flag2 flag3.

When they say flag a, b or c are they talking about the flags or the origins next to them? Im confused.... Could someone please help clearify where these settings go and what they need to be? I have the spawns, flags and scrip_origins set up already.

Thanks in advance [thumbs_up]

This is what I make from the tutorial, HOWEVER I haven't test it myself[exclamation]

1. Insert the 5 Flags (At least 3!)
2. Next to each Flag place a script_origin and give them all a "targetname" of "flag_descriptor".
3. Select the origin next to Flag A and give it the following key/value: "script_linkname" "flag1" (This is the number of the Flag in the Flag order, shown below!)
4. Give the same orgin the following key/value: "script_linkto" "flag5 flag2" (These are the Flags next to this one, for the order look below!)

The order of the Flags:
Flag A (1) -> Flag B (2) -> Flag C (3) -> Flag D (4) -> Flag E (5) -> Flag A (This is the first Flag!)

Hope it helps.

Thanks! [thumbs_up]

It works great. Now I can work on finalizing the rest of my map and release it.

Thanks again And Nice interpretation!

Maybe someone should put up a tutorial for this that is a little more clear than what IW had. I have been trying to get this working for almost a week.

Well, there are tutorials up for it, and the IW worked fine when it had its images. If you want to see what the IW Wiki originally looked like with its images, check this out:

http://wiki.modsrepository.com/index.php/Call_of_Duty_4:_Adding_Entities%23Setting_up_gameplay_modes

That is an exact copy/paste of the original IW Wiki.

Wow I can see what you mean....

If the images had still been there I would have figured it out on my own. It makes so much more sence now. [banghead]

Thanks again
