I started mapping for TF2 awhile ago but I moved on to left 4 dead when it came out. We have a couple of tutorials for TF2 under the Half Life 2 section of the site. Please feel free to write some up if you know any good tips. Good Luck and I look forward to seeing some cool maps for TF2.
