I know someone knows how to import custom sounds. I need help. I wanna inport custom sounds to my maps. How do I do that?

Do you know how to add a sound used in the game already? A wave file?

If so, it is the same way. In the alias you simply define it's new path.

raw/sound

In raw/sound I always make a folder called "something" in my case I use "amb_elements" but it can be anything.

So in raw/sound/amb_elements/custom.wav

Place your custom sound in this new path you've created.
Define the wave file in your sound alias.
Make sure the path in the sound alias, to the custom wave file is correct.

Simply add the wave file to the zone file as a rawfile.

rawfile,sound/amb_elements/custom.wav

And that's it. Wave files can be packed in the FF file, and need to be added to the zone file, but if you're doing an MP3, it doesn't need to be added to the zone file, it needs to be added to the maps IWD manually. Make sure the folder structure is the same in the IWD as the games raw folder structure.

raw/sound/amb_elements/custom.mp3 <---files home

In IWD: sound/amb_elements/custom.mp3 <---files place in IWD

Helpful Hint:


1. Re-sampling the wave file to something like 2200khz instead of 44khz can save you map space, or lower the file size of the map. Good when adding many custom sounds.

im learning. If you could place that in to dude i will be your best friend> Folman gave me the link for cod2. didnt know if it would work for cod4, im sure it would i been on this for about 1 hr and a half now. Np I dont know how to add it, sorry. Just now learning. I been completeing strutures in new maps. now im in to learning triggers.

If you're just getting started, take what I've told you in my first post and apply it to this outline from last year, it should help you through it. Some of the outline no longer applies, but at least you get a sense on how to make it happen.

I also assumed this was an MP map, as I'm about to send an MP sound Tut. Most is same besides the line used in the zone file. It's an older tut and could be cleaned up a bit, but it will do for learning purposes.
