If all you are looking for is sand (sorrry didn't read all the posts - just glanced) there is one in the Italy section. It's new in UO so you won't find it in the stock CoD textures.

oh I know, but its not the right sand for desert. Would be a little weird seein seaweed in the African desert...

do some alpha blending, u might be able to change grass or gravel to yellow so it looks like sand
