The crazy thing, though...is that the more I think about it the less I really am excited about this game. It's just UT with better graphics...I'm sure it will be fun, and I look forward to playing some LAN matches and stuff like that...but...eh. I know there doesn't seem to be much enthusiasum for it here, but I'm actually looking forward to No One Lives Forever 2; I hope that the mapping tools for that aren't too much of a mess. I really can't wait to try and get some cooperative missions put together.

If they got a 1.2 million user base off the demo. Can you imagine creating a map for ut2k3 and having it downloaded a MILLION times. Or even half that. That would be a mappers dream come true. lol

I am not too excited about the game either. However, all the tools and support that will be available for the editor does thrill me a bit.

NOLF2 looks like a fun game, but after going back and looking at the first game, I must say I feel sad for those graphics. I will have to wait and see how much the lithtech engine has progressed (I believe it is lithtech).

If I can forsee alot of coding changes to be done for UT2K3, my excitement will grow. The game, so far, looks incredibly simple. Spawn, pickup and item, use a lift, fancy death. I want to see more entities than that in the list... but I don't truly know what to expect yet.

Since all these tools and a book is available, this will no doubt be a learning experience at worse.

I must have been one of the only people who thought the graphics in the first NOLF were pretty good. There were places where they saved on polys (like making the car wheels and barrells octagons); but I thought the textures were very crisp and nice looking, and the models of the weapons and actors were good as well. But it was the gameplay in that game that made it a lot of fun. After playing the NOLF2 demo, I must say that I think they've made a hell of a lot of progress in the graphics department -- in my opinion, they're some of the nicest looking graphics out there on the market, aside from UT2K3. (And yes, NOLF2 is using LithTech; but a majorly overhauled version with a heavily reworked renderer)

I can see what you're saying about not having a lot of entities in UT2K3, and that's why I'm honestly looking forward more to the games that are going to be using the engine, rather than the game itself. ;)

From the interactivity that was in the NOLF2 demo, I have high hopes that editing will allow one to make the detailed, quirky, and more *fun* to design maps than SOF2, or pretty much any game since Half-Life. Being able to shoot out and unscrew lightbulbs and knock into windchimes and have opening windows and things like that really are the little touches I find fun when making maps.

Here's hoping that the 'new' LithTech editor isn't a huge pain in the butt.

Just received an email, order is being processed.
Probably have end of this week. I was playing the demo with Foxhound yesterday. Got my butt blasted a lot due to the dialup. This is going to be a blast with the new tools to learn.

Then slowly moves the box to the desk

Carefully opens the box and removes all the contents.......

hmmmmm Cool

Oh look at that. You don't see that everyday.

I sometimes wonder... "Why is that frisbee getting larger?" .............and then it hits me.

I must say.... It's more than I expected. The graphics look good as expected but I think there may be more editing possibilities than I expected.

I am not going to spoil any of the fun for anyone else.... just make sure you are getting the game if you haven't already ordered it. :casanova:

The graphics seem a bit better. The maps are hmmm better.

Is it me or does the demo not do it justice?

Cheers
