My advice from a Tier 3 Micorsoft Corporate support is the following.

Yes, you are allowed to install a working copy to a laptop. After 15 registers of that serial number. Then you need to call MS support.

My advice is to get that XP installed on the laptop, get Norton Ghost and Ghost it o a dvd or a network drive.

Then in the future you will not have to re-register that copy.
YOu can simply restore it. I can write about an hour on that subject, since I deal with Licensing all day.

Many people dont know..
You can only Register 15 times per serial number.

Each installation creates a HASH number from all devices installed in that computer, then send to MS for new install. If that exact HASH matches over 15 times, then ""THEY"" say go buy another copy.

If you have a computer, and XP is installed. You install 5 new cards, then the Register with MS pops up. Since the HASH number has changed. It sees the HASH as a unique Identifier, once you alter that HASH enough, then re-register that copy.

Windows is a hole for viruses and vulnerabilities.
also Microsoft try to control the world of computer and i hate them for that.

but there is hope...Linux is free and with time and knowledge there will be more developer to code nice application for that platform.

most users go toward windows because it doesnt requires knowledge much to use it. but linux is different you need more. also marketing wise linux is not spread the same way.

but linux is catching up slowly on microsucks.

Long Live linux.....

hehe,

Isn't it true (I duuno, thats why im asking) that windows are removing:
* Windows Media Player
* Internet Explorer
From the next O/S
Because of complaints from other companies, (Apple, Real etc.) about Windows just taking the market over and not lettin others get it?

Im not sure, just a rumour!

Thought i'd dhare it with the big world out there at MoDSONLINE!
