If I were to prefab something and load it into my map, how would I select all of it at once to move it without having to go through and select the many brushes and patches it will have? Also, can anyone give me some tips on making a large ship or possibly a U-Boat?

Ok well when you do load a prefab in it already is selected.... once you deselect then ya pretty much gonna have too select brush by brush... unless you draw a box around it and hit the select all in box button... you may have to go through then and deselect the brushes you dont want in it....

So basically plan your map ahead ..... know where you want the prefabs to go...

caution on building etc that are prefabs....you cant rotate them properly cause the textures stuff up.... unless of causeits not textured....

could anyone texture a U-Boat prefab for me(I suck at texturing...) please, it would help me alot.

*trick*
when you first drop the prefab into your .map everything is selected
before you press esc to de-select it...press "N" and give the whole group of brushes a unique key/value....something like prefab/house1

then, when you want to select all of house 1 you click selection --> select by key/value (shift+ctrl+f) and enter the key/value prefab/house1

everything with that k/v pairing will then be selected (which should be your entire house [angryalien]

To help you with your u-boat, use google and find some pics of old u-boats. Also looka existing u-boats made, for example there is one in the prefabs section hear, there is one in a map called mp_ubootbunker. This is where i got my inspiration from and i came up with this

yeah, thats what I mean, I have the U-Boat prefab now(I found it yesterday) and tried to texture it but I can't, I need someone to help there...

What do you mean you cant texture it?
Do you mean it as in you cant select the patch meshes and brushes to texture them, or there are no textures in your texture folder?

No sounds like he is not sure how to texture properly.. making the texture fit and move and look good....

If this is so just keep mucking around with it and you'll get the hang of it... trick here is to do one brush and one side at a time instead of selecting the whol thing and texturing at once...
