I just opened my radiant to work on my map some more...I click open, mp_untitled (hadn't named my map yet) and then ntohing happened, so i tried again...nothing. Usually it takes a sec to open cause of the size of the file. But theres nada! Its p***in me off cause I was soooo close to completing it, just hadda finish the 1 building.

Pics here on this blog: http://ninjamaps.blogspot.com/2009/05/i-started-working-on-map-with-absolutly.html

Pics themselves:
1) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_k9S1CD_ObMo/Sho28SYJcKI/AAAAAAAAAC0/Z1r1NICM3hA/s1600-h/set2-4.JPG
2) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_k9S1CD_ObMo/Sho28DsLJYI/AAAAAAAAACs/Zfx5cGhiJDs/s1600-h/set2-3.JPG
3) http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_k9S1CD_ObMo/Sho28DnJ4cI/AAAAAAAAACk/-qKL6ldQgrI/s1600-h/set2-2.JPG
4) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_k9S1CD_ObMo/Sho275rvPaI/AAAAAAAAACc/mHXIGy1e-WY/s1600-h/set2-1.JPG

Now you see the work I put into it and why I'm mad..
I'm very very careful when it comes to my maps so I HIGHLY doubt i saved over it. But if I did is it in any way possible to get back what was there or even partially...I put alot of work into this map.
I opened the "F" filter settings, everything was checked so NO the "world" (etc) was NOT gone.
This is an extreme disapointment! IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET THIS MAP BACK? ='( [banghead][mad]

The last time you compiled your map it would have been backed up, have a search for untitled.bak, you can then rename the extension to .map again and open it up in radiant.

You do understand that People DO Search using your "Topic" subject??

It's insanely frustrating when people don't care enough to think about other people rather than themselves.

Someone else is going to look for this topic to fix their problem, but instead, is going to create a new one, because they had 0 results. I see it happen everyday.

HELP!

PleaseHELP!

ERROR!

GAAAAARG!!

[confused]

[rasta] I changed the topic title from ''GAAAAARG!'' for you

Apologies on the title, I hadn't thought of it. I instantly came to modsonline to try and hadnt thought maybe others do this.

I changed the topic title for you.

Check to see if your .map has any filesize to it, if it list's a 0 then it's empty, if not then there may be a chance the stuff is there but being hidden, in which case you can just press 'F' in radiant and make sure all boxes are checked.

If it is 0 then unless you have a .bak, autosave or manual backup somewhere it will be gone unfortunatly.

There are more hope... slim but more hopes. If you have Vista check for previous version of the Call of Duty Folder - System Protection in Vista creates previous copies of folder from time to time, on my rig its daily.

You could also try data recovery softwares ... its worth a go. Check HERE

You also say it wasnt named yet you mention mp_untitled as a filename? Radiant Autosaves as Rasta said, check for any .map or .bak present in your /map_source/ folder.

ive had that problem as well, and sometimes when u load the map in the bottom where the errors pop up on radiant check to see wat it says. Also try this:

1) go to your map_source folder make a copy of your mp_mapname.map

2) open your mp_mapname.map with notepad check to see if there is anything in txt in there. If you see stuff like

Code:
iwmap 4 "000_Global" flags active "The Map" flags // entity 0 { "sundirection" "90 0 0" "sunlight" "1" "suncolor" "1.000000 0.890196 0.835294" "ambient" "1....

then your map has stuff in it and the problem is probably something like having no worldspawn in which case you can type it in there save it, and try opening in radiant. I had to do this once or twice on different maps because of something like beforementioned. If you do not find a back up then ur map is lost.

Thanks for changing the title Rasta.

I've discovered a few things though:

1) i checked the map size file in the folder and its NOT at 0.

2) all the boxes in the editors filter box "F" are checked.

3) When I first open the editor, before i open the map it says this:
Code:
rmer.gsc
ScanFile: aitype/enemy_ac130_ar_ak47.gsc

*(shows all the other weapons it "scans")*

Map_New
Updating layers...
Entering message loop
WARNING: Could not connect to source control.

What does this mean though "WARNING: Could not connect to source control."

Then when I open the map
1) The title of the map doesnt apear in the bar at the top, it remains "unnamed.map*" rather than "C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare/map_source/untitled.map"
2) It says the following in console:
Code:
Map_New
Updating layers...
Entering message loop
WMap_LoadFile: C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare/map_source/untitled.map
Updating layers...
WARNING: empty map
No worldspawn in map.
Map_New
Updating layers...

How do I put the worldspawns in so I'm able to open it, IF thats the problem.

What do I type and where in the text document?

Thanks =)

I tried what you said...

when I copied it to the desktop and opened it with Notepad all that was there was a long empty document, no words, just spaces and "enter"s. I only know theres spaces because the scroll bar is very small.
Does this mean anything? [confused]

In notepad or what ever you are using go in 'tools'>'wrap' or 'view'>'wrap'; that should allow you to see all the text on several lines.

But it seems that although the size of the file is NOT null there isn't much to be recovered anyway.
