Stryders post count! IT'S OVER 9000!

Sorry.

As for the the game, I dunno what to think. I'm forever bitter with the way CoD games have gone and there's no changing me. lol.

its not unusual that these rumors will start popping up about now, as the development cycle for these games has been shrunken to an annual release date, thus mandating a bi-annual development cycle.

the pattern that was started by ATV has continued on, and i imagine will continue to do so, to propagate the yearly release of a title in this series.

it will be interesting to see what direction that Treyarch takes the engine and series with their next developed title - in the same way that it will be interesting to see how IW has made use of the improvements to the engine by Trey, as well as what new 'features' that they are adding with MW2.

at present, i suggest that we are just beginning to see the 'hype' for MW2 and that we are just beginning to see the rumor mill grinding out 'what if's' and 'maybes' for the next Treyarch developed title.

Hehe, Nice Dragonball reference and a subtle get back on topic.

I am still not sure about the game.

Done properly a Vietnam game would be awesome, Then again if it was done badly it would be horrible.

Judging by the other CoD games they seem to like having two war fronts. Like a Russian, British or US campaigns. So i would hazard a guess at that they would pick a time where there are two separate wars going on.

Vietnam would kinda work as they could use the soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Which took place a year after the Vietnam war ended. Alternatively they might use the Bay of Pigs Invasion set in Cuba.

I think Styders right, It's mostly just hype at the moment. I guess we will know more once CoD:MW2 comes out.

Interesting point Welshy there are generally large military factions to choose from, you could play as the US and the south Vietnamese or the French of course.. but normally in COD games you win at the end of the conflict...

Call of Duty: Falklands anyone?

Who wants to play the French really? :p

I agree that a Korean setting would be really interesting.

As for a Vietnam setting, I am afraid that treyarch could then not avoid comparison with other games using the same settings without bringing something really new to the genre. There are quite a few people that did like Vietcong and BF:Vietnam to name only two of those games.
