I'm not sure if this is the correct forum or not (if not please move).

I'm having a problem logging into ModsOnline recently. This problem only popped up in the past week.

I have 2 computers, a desktop (gaming/mapping system) from which I log into ModsOnline and a Laptop from which I also log in from time to time.

In the past, if I logged in on one machine and then later tried to access the site from another machine, I would simply have to log in again, but now when I try to log in from my other machine it say's that my account is invalid. I have to go to my E-mail and click the verification link sent to me the last time I changed my password before I can log in.

As I said, this only happens when I log in on one machine then come back later and try to log in from a different machine. If I log in from one machine and then come back later from the SAME machine, it remembers me and I don't even have to log in.

I'm sure it's just a cookie problem but not sure where to begin troubleshooting this one.

It's really no big deal, as I'm accustomed to logging in when I change machines anyway, but would like to eliminate that extra step of re-verifying every time I log in :)

Thanks :)

It sounds like the cookies on one machine are corrupt or just incorrect. I recommend that you attempt to delete all cookies and any other saved data (like passwords) on both computers related to MODSonline. Then when you login again, you can save your login information again.

There has been no changes to the login in the past few weeks.

Thanks Foyle :)

No, I'm not saying it's a problem with the forums, just not sure how to solve it. :)

I've reset the cookies on both machines and am still having the problem.

Very strange.

hmm.

When you are logging in on the troubled machine, do you see the message "logging you in..." at which time it does not actually log you in? This would indicate that it has found your account and is setting the cookies.

Finally, try logging in from this page: http://www.modsonline.com/Members-login.html rather than the top of the page. See if that makes a difference. If it does make a difference, then I am thinking that your browser is caching pages and after logging you in, showing you a page that was saved in the cache and not updated.

Nope :( It is still taking me straight to a page that reads

Quote:

Your Registration Information Could Not Be Found.
Please go BACK and try re-entering your username and password.

Since the problem is alternating between 2 different machines, I thought perhaps it might be an IP problem, but our home LAN is on a static IP (or supposed to be since I run a UO server for testing new maps). So I did a quick IP check on both machines and sure enough the IP is the same.

lol, like I said it's not really a big deal, I can still get in just by re-validating whenever I log in from a different computer, but this is a new one on me ha ha.

Thanks again Foyle, and love the webcasts. :)

I'm glad you are able to get around this issue in order to eventually log on. I hope that no one else is having a similar issue.

The message that "Your Registration Information Could Not Be Found." means that your username/password combination could not be found. Please note that this is case sensitive.

I guess the last thing I can recommend at this point is to login from your one computer and change your password again. Do it from your account page. Perhaps there is something in your password that is not being recognized.

On my Gaming Desktop I'm running Mozilla Firefox 3.5 beta 4, and on the laptop I'm running Mozilla Firefox 3.0

You know I hadn't thought about the browser it's-self, I was thinking cookie problem. Let me try with MSIE (I have the same version on both machines) and see if it will replicate the problem.

Thanks guys :)

{addendum} Hmm.. same problem with MISE 7. Could it be a windows setting perhaps?

I tried logging in with the screen-name raven21633 and Raven21633, and neither would let me log in until I verified again.
