I dont know why, but my map is toast. i cant compile.

and also..
WHen i try to do terrain mesh.. it only shows as WIREFRAME..
WHYYYYY? why cant I view my terrain textured. [confused]

12 views and nobody can tell me how to see the textures on a terrain patch in radient?

As far as the textures on a terrain patch, check you have terrain ticked in the VIEW....SHOW menu.

Alt-Ctr-R toggles the view mode.

If this does not work, maybe a reinstall of Radiant?

I could not get that link to work either.

For view terrain try going to "view", "entities as" and see if wireframe is selected or maybe in "show" make sure terrain is ticked. Just check your settings and filters (press f) for them.. I am pretty certain its just one of your setting need changing.

Got the map via email.

First quick look and I have a few comments.

1 - You really need to caulk all of the hidden textured faces of your brushes to help the playability of the map. I always build in caulk and texture only the vissible faces, reducing the number of texturing operations required.

2 - The tower crane and the adjacent open steel and concrete structures can be all detail as they do not hide the player as far as major visibility is concerned, you would be unable to portal these structures, so making them detail will greately improve your speed and chances of compiling.

3 - The multi-level building - the external concrete ribs need to be made detail.

4 - As far as terrain textures, I created a terrain mesh and it textured fine. I can only assume something is turned off or set to wire frame in your editor [confused]

5 - Obviously the missing skybox roof will mean an imediate failiure to compile.

Hope this initial look and comment helps. I will have a more detailed look later. [smile]

If you would like me to return the map with brushes detailed rather than structural as a sugestion of how to go about it,, then let me know.

thank you for looking at the map,

I will be scrapping that map and starting again, building in caulk
only, or selecting everythign and making it caulk and re-texturing
again.

feel free to make any advice, or changes. as i want to get this map done soon.
and even if you want to help construct it (if you have time) feel free.
There are plenty of things i want to add, and any help would be
greatly appreciated.

setting a texture to detail is just an option in surface editor, right?

and I will re-install raidient and trying again.

every complex brush (even cylinders and cones) are all in wireframe
only, but brushes maintain the solid texture look.

Sorry if I was not clear, when I mean detail, I mean the brush, not the texture.

When you make a new brush its Structural (black lines)

To make it a Detail brush, Right Click and select Detail from the popup menu.

Also, I am rather busy at the moment so cannot put any time into your project, shame as I would like to collaberate on something.

If I get time, I will return your map with my suggestions for the Structural / Detail so you can see what I mean.

Hope you have luck with the wireframe issue, I know it can be frustrating sometimes when it does not work, but keep trying, I have discarded so many maps because I was not happy and I am always learning with each new map, its part of the fun lol
