Could there be something else eating up bandwidth, programs in the backround, spyware, etc. Make sure you are not running anything else, such as a file-sharing app, and disable all un-needed service... One of my buddies uses a wireless Logitech FF joystick/mouse combo and is just as good as anyone else.
